According to foreign media, the brand new container ship "ONE AMAZON" operated by Japan Marine Network Shipping (ONE) recently ran aground while entering the port of Itajai in Brazil.
A video circulating on social media showed the ONE AMAZON running aground with tugboats helping it out of the water.
The port said the incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday when the ship "ONE AMAZON" entered the port at low tide and came into contact with a sandbar in the turning area. With the help of an assisting tugboat, the ship was quickly refloated and safely reached the port complex of Itayai and Navyentes.
ONE AMAZON, with a capacity of 118, 000 teU, was ordered by SEASPAN, the world's largest independent container owner, and delivered in early September and leased to ONE, according to publicly available online data.
Deployed on the company's Latin American SX1 route, it passes through several domestic ports, including Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Yantian and Hong Kong. The ship docked at the port of Navigentes for the first time on October 22, handling a total of 944 containers.
According to the ship's AIS provided by Baoshuan.com, the ship "ONE AMAZON" had previously docked at Shanghai Yangshan Port on September 19, Shekou Port on September 22, and Yantian Port and Hong Kong on September 24.
Update: On the morning of 8 November, the ship re-set from Itayai Port to resume its voyage to Santos Port, which is expected to arrive on 9 November.
In addition to ONE, other shipping companies sharing cabins are Haberrott and MSC, according to major shipping schedule data.
